2016 Rankin Scholar: Red Bastard
October 5, 2016
Drexel’s Co-op Theatre Company will welcome Eric Davis, aka Red Bastard, whose work as a preeminent buffoon and physical theater artist of our time will charm, disarm, shock, and amuse you. Tickets to the three free-to-the Drexel community performances, which will take place on the evenings of October 20-22 in our URBN Annex Black Box Theatre, are sure to go fast. Davis, a 2016 Rankin Artist in Residence, will also be leading several workshops engaging Theater, Entertainment & Arts Management, Dance, and Screenwriting/Playwriting students, as well as a master class open to local professional artists. Formerly a star performer for Cirque du Soleil, Davis has won numerous theater awards including the NY Innovative Theater Awards for Outstanding Production, Outstanding Ensemble, and Outstanding Director and was listed as one of the top #5 clowns in the world by the New York Times.
In Red Bastard’s hysterical one man performances lines are crossed and laughs are had in an interactive feast of biting wit, improvisation and physical prowess. His performances and workshops will inspire students and shine a light on the global entertainment industry from the perspective of a performer who has toured with Cirque du Soleil, has performed his one-man show throughout Europe, and has been the hit of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
